How Does FELIWAY FRIENDS Work?

Cats communicate through natural messages that are released from different parts of their body. Scientifically these are known as pheromones.

These feline odourless messages are only perceived by other cats.

After the mother gives birth, she sends “harmony messages” to her kittens. These messages, released in the mammary zone, are naturally appeasing and ensure harmony between the kittens. This has the same effect on adult cats.

Are my Cats Getting Along?

Fighting

One of the most obvious signs that your cats are not getting along but we want to avoid this. Once cats fight they struggle to make friends again.

Chasing

Many people mistake this for playing but it is not the same. If one of your cats always chases the other one away then this is a sign of conflict.

Blocking

This is when one cat will block the other cat from getting somewhere e.g. through a cat flap or down from a perch. This is a subtle sign of conflict.

Staring

This is when one cat will stare at another cat without any associate vocalisations. This can be easily missed but is a sign of conflict.

The FELIWAY diffusers are designed to get warm to the touch in order to disperse the pheromones adequately. The diffuser head is manufactured using non flammable (self extinguishing plastic) and are designed to be left switched on all the time.
