At the time of writing, we are in the middle of a global pandemic that has caused the entire world to shut down. With restaurants closed, we have had to reacquaint ourselves with home cooking. For some, this has presented itself primarily as a chore or an annoyance – especially the washing up.
But for me, this has been an almost unconditional joy. I have cooked things I have always loved cooking, and I have cooked things I love eating but never have had the time to cook, and I have cooked things I have never cooked before.
Since we cannot travel, I have also turned to cooking as a form of escapism.
